Public Sector Administrative Law and Consultant Lawyer
About Law Office of Neil Robertson
My legal career began 33 years ago, focusing on public sector employment law and evolving into a diverse range of work and professional experiences within that space. I started by representing peace officers and other state employees in disciplinary matters, both administrative and criminal. I was then hired by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to create policies and procedures for establishing an Office of Internal Affairs, while also prosecuting disciplinary cases. With an interest and expertise now focused on policy work, I was appointed by then California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) as one of the first special assistant inspectors general in charge of monitoring CDCR internal investigations and disciplinary cases. Finally, I was appointed by California Governor Gavin Newsom as the Chief Deputy Inspector General to manage all units within the OIG. During seven of the years with the OIG, I was privileged to serve as a sworn peace officer where I engaged with other law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations, executing search and arrest warrants.
